folk, Americana, acoustic, rock, psychedelic: (2-CD set) The first Country Joe album with a focus on a group sound since The Fish broke up in '71. After working as a guest with the Christmas Jug Band, Joe takes an all-acoustic jug band / string band approach here, using CJB front man & producer, Tim Eschliman as co-producer and washtub/string bass player and Gregory Dewey, the CJB's stalwart washboardist/drummer & the Fish's Woodstock drummer. Drawing upon the Jug Band's pool of instrumentalists, and Joe's own circle of talent, the album was fleshed out with such luminaries as Harper Simon, The Persuasions, Austin de Lone, Russ Gauthier, Ken "Snakebite" Jacobs, Suzy Thompson, Chris & Lorin Rowan and Bernie Krause. Included also are songs from Joe's singer/songwriter songbook recorded by Stephen Hart at Fantasy Studios. All original material save one Merle Haggard tune. Decades in the making, Time Flies By incorporates instrumentals, ballads, protests, waltzes and rock and roll.

christmas, folk, acoustic, novelty, jug: [Includes Free Uncorked postcard] The release of "Uncorked" marks the silver anniversary of that momentary lapse of sanity grown to ubiquitous proportions, known as The Christmas Jug Band. This milestone recording was richly engineered by the great Fred Catero (Pointer Sisters, Santana, Barbra Streisand's "People." Sly & the Family Stone) and Arjan MacNamara, who know the idiosyncrasies of capturing acoustic eccentricities better than anyone. This irreverent crewe of Commander Cody alumni & other S F Bay Area denizens deliver a dozen season-stopping classics spearheaded by the great new classic already making a buzz,"Santa Lost A Ho". There are also special guest appearances by Norton Buffalo (doing the Marx Brothers classic "I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas"), Texas blues master Angela Strehli, Bay Area favorite, Maria Muldaur (both on "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus"), and the great powerhouse soul-gospel of Mike Duke (Wet Willy, Delbert McClinton) on "Silent Night". Not being of a mind to under-staff such a masterpiece, the talent roster was topped off with Dan Hick's vocal back-up quartet, "The Fabulous Opinions". The marvelous original painting cover art was commissioned of Mark Keller who has created a marvelously tired and sleepy Santa being awoken by his elves in the 11th hour of Christmas Eve in a style remindful of the great Norman Rockwell. It all spells out a new Christmas tradition not to be missed!

country, rock, acoustic, americana, folk: Brand new release by this original roots-based Sonoma County alternative folk group. "A down-home meeting of British folk-rock duo Richard & Linda Thompson and The Flying Burrito Brothers". Traces of 10,000 Maniacs and Lucinda Williams. This San Francisco Bay Area-based Alt-folk group's new album digs deep into American Roots with a wide-open Sonoma County style on ten new original songs and two classics, Bob Dylan's "You Ain't Goin Nowhere" and Johnny Cash's "Get Rhythm." Using 12-strings, lap steels, harmonica and keyboards on top of a solid core of guitars and vocals, this release tips it's hat to Eddie Cochran ("Little Bird"), echoes the glory days of Gram Parsons ("Whistle of the Wheels") and brings back shades of The Beatles, Beau Brummels, and The Lovin Spoonful ("If You Took The Time," "In The Summertime"). The group has received critical acclaim, featured in Acoustic Guitar Magazine and Performing Songwriter Magazine. Solid Air has been performing together for over twelve years and were nominated for the "Wammies" S.F. Weekly's Alternative Music Awards. Their song "Postcard" was featured in Fast Folk Audio Magazine.
