blues, rhythm & blues, jazz: This double CD is their second collaboration and like their first, features a wide variety of musical styles. This time around they have included many fine Bay Area musicians into their vision. The CD, City Talk, starts with Duke Ellington's classic Mood Indigo. This is followed by a mix of jazz, blues and Latin music that culminates with Brenda's original composition, Big, Fine Momma. Brenda and Eric are joined throughout this CD by local musicians Babatundse, Charles McNeal, Ron Belcher, Raul Ramirez, John Haynes, Austin DeLong and Bobby Tynes. The style of the other CD, BACKPORCH TALES, reverts to the format of Bourbon and Cornbread featuring Brenda and Eric or Eric alone. It reflects the rural and yet eclectic influences they bring to jazz, blues and beyond. And they take on all these styles of music with joy and abandon and perfect harmony, whether they are doing the Maple Leaf Rag or Always On My Mind. This is classical American music at it's best.

rock: Carole's songs have a cinematic and emotional quality, and her passionate delivery has drawn comparisons to Tori Amos and Kate Bush. Produced by Paul C. Robinson (guitarist for Dan Hicks and Al Stewart) and Steve Savage (recorder and mixer of three grammy-nominated Robert Cray CDs), Jill Carole's 11-song debut CD features guest performances by guitarist/bassist Robinson, keyboardist Jimmy Pugh (Chris Isaak, Robert Cray Band) and drummer Kevin Hayes (Robert Cray Band). All lyrics and music were written by Carole. The CD booklet reveals drawings by Dan Hicks (yes, the musician of Hot Licks fame) that highlight the deeper meaning of Carole's lyrics.
