blues, funk, New Orleans, rhythm & blues, swing, rockabilly: Big Sale! This 3rd RJ album brings the band's diverse American roots into a solid blues focus with the addition of Johnnie Johnson on seven cuts, who writes three of them, including the sublime mood of "Johnnie's Idea" and the classic stroll of "Slow Drag" It also features a cameo by east coast R & B diva, Rahni Raines, and at times, the full three-man New Orleans-style horn section that the band features at their Mardi Gras Mambofest performances: Rob Sudduth (tenor sax - Huey Lewis, Amos Garrett), Ed Early (trombone - Albert King), and Michael Peloquin (bari sax). With six other originals mostly by lead vocalist/bassist Tim Eschliman (Commander Cody, Etta James), an Irma Thomas classic, a New Orleans brass band romp and a Pinetop Smith Boogie Woogie, a full palette of top shelf rhythm & blues is delivered on this recording - topped off by drummer Jimmy Sanchez's crazed full- bore second line deviation, "Mighty Fine Day." Also appearing are Caroline Dahl, Stevie Gurr, Anthony Paule and Steve Freund. Total Running Time: 56 minutes.

Roots Rock, Americana, Singer/songwriter, country blues, western swing, cajun, folk, acoustic, pop: New Release! 2023 Vinyl LP release. Original and vintage Roots Rock, Americana, Country Blues, Singer/Songwriter, Western Swing and Cajun music with rich acoustic tones... Top 100 Album of 2022 at Alt. Country Specialty Chart. Born out of the pandemic, connecting a vast group of talent not usually available. A shelter-in-Place-inspired musical outfit befitting the newfound minimalism of the times... back to the basics. Formed for the first time in the locked-down summer of 2020, they were born out of live streaming episodes that lead to outdoor performances and a recent foray into the Big-Pink-style living room recording facilities of Globe Records (as also utilized in the recent New Copasetics release). With Tim Eschliman, Candy Girard, Bowen Brown, Beau Beaulieu, Jackson Allen, Vicki Randle, Gary Potterton, Kathy Kennedy, Austin deLone, Isaac Carter, Barbara Higbie and Jack Ohara. Produced by Tim Eschliman. Recorded at Global Mobile, Napa County, CA. Cover Art: Katie Kincade Designs. Manufactured in the Nerherlands. "...excellent album ...has roots in country and blues but zigzags all over the musical map, evokes artists from multiple decades over the last century and embraces everything from indie-rock and Americana to Celtic, Motown, and Western swing. If you need a reference point, look to Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks and Asleep at the Wheel, whose records also draw on disparate sources." - Jeff Burger, Americana Highways, TheAquarian.com. "...everything from alt. rock to cajun, to country, to Brownie Ford era-Western Swing. But the thing that keeps this set together is their excellent songwriting full of smooth never-miss-a-beat lines and vivid imagery. It's a studio album but it sure does have a back porch jam band feel to it" - Calvin Powers, americanamusicshow.com, WHUP-FM (4 songs in rotation)

new orleans, zydeco, cajun, R&B, blues: The Zydeco Flames have gained the reputation as the West Coast's premiere Zydeco band. Their sizzling roots rhythms are timeless and the execution is relentless, with a stunningly powerful groove and playlist that includes originals and select covers in the genres of Zydeco, Cajun, New Orleans R&B, Rock and Swamp-Pop. This, the Flames' seventh CD release, "Fire Dance", showcases the recent live club performance in Berkeley, California that provides fans with hot Zydeco music they've come to expect from the Flames, in the tradition of the great masters like Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat Zydeco, and Queen Ida. Featuring the soulful, steamy style of classically-trained singer/rubboardist/harpist Lloyd Meadows, the cajun & piano accordion and keyboards of Bruce Gordon (noted California performer who played on Ramblin' Jack Elliot's Grammy-nominated album), guitarist Frank Bohan with musical roots deep in Chicago blues (worked with Johnny Copeland, Alvin "Youngblood" Hart, Ricardo Scales, and Johnny Nitro), and the tight & funky rhythm section of bassist Tim Walker (worked with J.J. Malone, Sista Monica, Bobby Murray, Andre Thierry and The Elvin Bishop Band) and drummer William Allums, with deep roots in gospel music, hip-hop, funk and R&B.

blues: Best known for his work with the Elvin Bishop Band in the 1970's, including the 1976 #4 hit, "Fooled Around and Fell in Love," Vernazza has played guitar with some of the biggest names in music, from Van Morrison to the Grateful Dead. Vernazza has spent decades on stages big and small around the world, honing his craft and this album is the culmination of that experience. Now more than a decade in to his solo career, his new album, Lions and Thieves, delivers on the promise of a lifetime in music. Ably backed by bassist Jim Reeves, drummer Brian Cantrell and keyboardist Mark Bentley, the album's 14 tracks cover a lot of ground. Indeed, Vernazza may be considered to be one of the finest blues and slide guitar players going today, but his sound is expansive. As detailed his blues varies, from the sweet soul edge of "Open The Door" to high octane rocker "Jungle," the latter a sure fire single surely destined to be much covered in the future. While the albums core group are all seasoned veterans, Vernazza also called in a few friends to help in the albums creation, with Elvin Bishop, Charlie Daniels and Albert Lee all contributing to Lions and Thieves. Long time fans will love every second of Lions and Thieves, but anyone who enjoys great blues and rock will need a copy of this album in their collection

Thirty years in the making, Taproot goes to the heart of Country and Blues roots, delivering truly original and inspired interpretations of classics. From the rocking boogie of Johnson's "Preachin' Blues" and "Last Fair Deal" to the heartbreaking intimacy of Williams' "Mansion On the Hill," Willis, a veteran bluesman with incredible vocal range and stylistic maturity, makes an important and memorable contribution to Robert Johnson's and Hank Williams' songbooks. "...one of the most sought-after blues pianists; he covers different styles with aplomb, comps like a master, and bangs out a mean solo." ---Blues Review #84. blues, rhythm & blues: Begins a new chapter for Larry as he continues to create music in a voice that has become uniquely his own but at the same time draws directly from the immensely rich American Music Tradition that songwriters and musicians the world over invariably turn to for inspiration. He has had the opportunity to work with Bo Diddley, Eddie Money, Steve Cropper, Big Joe Turner, Mary Wells and Sir Mac Rice (the man that penned "Mustang Sally" and "Respect Yourself"). "A rootsy affair that touches on blues, Tex-Mex, and jazz, former Dynatones' guitarist Dunn delivers wonderfully tailored tunes that manage to highlight his ultra-hip, yet ultra-musical guitar playing. His bluesy, organic phrasing deftly mixes in slick modal flavorings (from Santana to Robben Ford), and his ability to outline a tangy, twisting chord progression- on the album's title track for instance- without going into chromatic la-la land is a real treat, as are his velvety octave licks. Dunn leans on spanky, mildly overdriven single-coil tones for the most part, but the album's last three cuts feature Dunn's formidable acoustic chops. Good tunes and killer playing. What's not to like." -Darrin Fox, Guitar Player Magazine, 4/08

oldies, pop, soul, rock, rhythm & blues: Sandi and the Accents was the premier rock 'n' roll band of the mid-sixties in San Diego. Their first single, Better Watch Out Boy, climbed to the top ten in San Diego and top 20 in LA in 1964, and was followed by three top 20 singles in the region. They appeared on television shows like those of Lloyd Thaxton and Regis Philbin, and routinely sold out the largest venues in Southern California. They opened for The Rolling Stones, The Byrds, Herman's Hermits, The Righteous Brothers, and The Coasters, and according to a regional radio station poll were more popular than any band except The Beatles. This CD is a compilation of their hits together with live recordings of their fans' favorites. Members include Tony Johnson, Sandi Rouse & Gabe Lapano. Included in this CD are the Accents' four original singles and fourteen tracks recorded live at the San Diego Community Concourse and other venues in 1965 and 1966. You may have been there! The sound quality is not up to today's standards but the performances are everything you remember and more.

blues: Big Sale! Fillmore Slim has been playing the blues all his life and has become synonymous with the "playa" lifestyle. He is one of the special lights of the blues world today combining humor, slang, street wisdom, blues idioms and solid songwriting into his special motif. The Legend Of was recorded in Oakland and it brings all the power of Slim's writing and spoken magic to the front. The song "Hey Little Brother" examines the inner city youth/handgun epidemic from many different viewpoints. The combination of rap and blues is once again explored by Fillmore and his son Frank Sticks. This album's line-up includes Frank Goldwasser and Leonard Gil (bass and lead guitar), John Haines (drums), Bobby Webb (sax), Jimmy Pugh (keyboards) and Rick Estrin (harmonica).

blues, rockabilly: Lightning's struck at the crossroads, and from it has arisen the alliance of two modern blues masters: Billy C. Farlow and Rich Kirch. The bold, soulful lyrics and screaming harmonica of Farlow, coupled with the wailing electric guitar riffs of Kirch create a driving rhythmic force that interweaves an eclectic blend of traditional blues and Southern-fried rockabilly, celebrating Americana roots styles with foot-stomping vigor. Farlow is noted for his nine-year career as Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen's frontman and harmonica player, responsible for penning several of their hits. Kirch's credits include a 13-year career as the late John Lee Hooker's lead guitarist and band leader. The two musical veterans honed their chops in the '60s and '70s hotbeds of blues revived Chicago and Detroit, emulating such legends as Howlin' Wolf, Hound Dog Taylor, and James Cotton and collaborating with such masters as John Lee Hooker, Sippie Wallace, Big Joe Williams, Junior Wells, and Charlie Musselwhite, among other greats: from Chuck Berry to Eric Clapton. Both artists boast lengthy discographies and worldwide touring acclaim. Alligator Crawl is the duo's first collaborative effort featuring renegade Billy C. originals and Kirch's electric savvy. The duo will be touring the Bay Area and beyond this summer to promote the new album. Includes special guests Keith Crossan (Tommy Castro) and Bill Gibson (Huey Lewis & The News).

blues, rhythm & blues, New Orleans, americana: A musical slice of Americana that takes a listener from the hills of West Virginia to the bayous of Louisiana, the banks of the Ohio to the Mississippi Delta. S. E. Willis' third and finest release ranges from the title track's neo-Rockabilly to Jimmie Rodgers style blue country (When and If), swing (Chasin' a Train), swamp-pop (That's My Dream), blues (I'm Tired) and funky zydeco (Muddy Water, Think Twice, I'm Coming Home), with plenty of side trips between. Harmonica ace Norton Buffalo adds his talents to the unique "Poison Love." Mandolin hero Tom Rozum (Laurie Lewis and Grant Street) provides a bluegrass edge, and Johnny "V" Vernazza plays perhaps the best guitar of his career. "If Bill Monroe and Howlin' Wolf had ever played together it wouldn't sound like this, but that's got the idea, that's the aim." -S. E. Willis

acapella, rock, soul, rhythm & blues: The Edlos do the 60s - Far Out! Take a far out ride through the 60s and early 70s with the Edlos. There are some very clever adaptations of songs we have never heard arranged a cappella before such as Jethro Tull's "Aqualung", Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit", Led Zeplin's "Stairway to Heaven" (all 6 minutes of it) and - would you believe - "Tequila", trumpets and all? There are also a couple of a cappella standards done with a twist such as "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (they call it "Wimoweh"). "Hurdy Gurdy Man" is sung employing a vocal technique explored in the Baroque period called "hocket" according to the liner notes. It's a very interesting choice because it almost sounds like an exaggerated version of Donovan's own style. There are not a lot of slick production techniques or effects used on this CD, but there are very creative a cappella arrangements of some pop classics.

blues, rock, gospel: On May 8th 2002, local songwriter, guitarist & singer Ralph Bryan, lost his battle with brain cancer. Not only was he a brilliant musician, but an extremely devoted father as well. It is for this reason some of the best musical talent Sonoma County has to offer, once again, rose to the occasion. The result of this effort, is a compilation CD featuring performances by: Willy Jordan & Souljoy, John Allair, Danny Sorentino, Micheal Barclay Blues Band, Dr. Joel Rudinow, Earl Thomas, Stony Point, Volker Strifler & the Blue Zone, the late "Big Bill" Ganaye & the Cool Tones, Solid Air, The Real Tones w/ Steve Judkins performing 3 previously unrecorded songs, including, "So Sad to be Lonesome", Ralph Bryan's last session. With the exception of some legal fees, minor recording costs and the actual, physical manufacture of the CD package itself, the sound recording "When You Were Near", was produced entirely by donation. Studio time, engineering, editing, graphics, the tracks themselves were all offered without hesitation and unconditionally. All proceeds from the sale of "When You Were Near", will be used to create a trust to fund Elena Bryan's (Ralph's 14 yr old daughter who penned the poem "When You Were Near", the inspiration for this project) college education .This is yet another sterling example of musicians and artists coming together in the true spirit of community. The result is a surprisingly diverse cross section of styles and performances from a group of very talented artists getting together to meet a single goal.
