Disc two showcases Joe's playing and composing. Goldmark has six pedal steel guitar CDs under his belt, and has also recorded three acclaimed albums with Jim Campilongo & The 10 Gallon Cats. He was a member and recorded with the Twangbangers, the all-star band that featured Red Voelkaert, Bill Kirchen, and Dallas Wayne. country, rock: San Francisco guitar wizard Joe Goldmark continues his amazing and varied career with All Hat - No Cattle, an all-instrumental tour-de-force that stretches far beyond the instrument's traditional boundaries. Goldmark has played in Bay Area country bands since the 1970's, including the Billy C. Farlow Band, Osage, The Texas Chainsaw Band, and Jim Campilongo and his Ten Gallon Cats. Goldmark cites among his steel guitar influences Buddy Emmons, Tom Brumley, JD Maness, and Sneaky Pete. Loosely characterized as "lounge" or "worldbeat," this album is best described as an attempt to push the envelope of the pedal steel, drawing from ska-influenced Caribbean ("Rico's Lament"), Mexican ("Sabor a Mi"), West African ("Highlife") and vintage soul ("Freddie Scott's "Hey Girl").

country, rock, americana: The wonderful songs created by the Beatles sound like they were written for the pedal steel guitar on "Steelin' The Beatles" by Joe Goldmark. This rockin' CD also features the excellent playing of some great Bay Area talent. Engineer and guitarist Garth Webber is an alumnus of the Miles Davis band. Mac Cridlin played bass on Stephen Bishop's "On & On" and Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy", and was in Tony Williams' band. Billy Lee Lewis played drums with Marty Balin, Gary Potterton is a top country-rock guitarist, and Pete Elman on keyboards has three of his own highly acclaimed CDs.
