rhythm & blues, blues, soul, rock: The legendary Austin de Lone, keyboards, guitar, and vocals, has written 10 original songs in the soul/blues vein, and covered 2 songs, one a classic folk song done with a Stax/Volt style arrangement, the other a previously unrecorded Nick Lowe song, and enlisted the help of some of the finest Bay Area musicians, as well as some of his more famous friends - Nick Lowe, Jim Keltner, Bill Kirchen, and Elvis Costello - to record this intelligent and rocking cd. Austin was a member of Punk-Rock precursors, Eggs Over Easy, the instigators of Pub Rock in North London, in the early 1970s. Austin de Lone is also a member of The Moonlighters and The Christmas Jug Band. This milestone recording was richly engineered by the great Fred Catero (Pointer Sisters, Santana, Barbra Streisand's "People." Sly & the Family Stone) and Arjan MacNamara, who know the idiosyncrasies of capturing acoustic eccentricities better than anyone. This irreverent crewe of Commander Cody alumni & other S F Bay Area denizens deliver a dozen season-stopping classics spearheaded by the great new classic already making a buzz,"Sanat Lost A Ho". There are also special guest appearances by Norton Buffalo (doing the Marx Brothers classic "I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas"), Texas blues master Angela Strehli, Bay Area favorite, Maria Muldaur (both on "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus"), and the great powerhouse soul-gospel of Mike Duke (Wet Willy, Delbert McClinton) on "Silent Night". Not being of a mind to under-staff such a masterpiece, the talent roster was topped off with Dan Hick's vocal back-up quartet, "The Fabulous Opinions". The marvelous original painting cover art was commissioned of Mark Keller who has created a marvelously tired and sleepy Santa being awoken by his elves in the 11th hour of Christmas Eve in a style remindful of the great Norman Rockwell.
