ROCK: NRBQ vs. Los Straitjackets. In 2016 two of America's top live bands decided to join forces and tour. To commemorate this momentous occasion, they are issuing this limited edition 45 comprised of two previously unreleased recordings. NRBQ's Terry Adams and company deliver the swaggering "Never Cop Out" which sandwiches Stonesy swagger, and a chorus that do the Kinks proud around a blistering solo section. Los Straitjackets channel a lost biker flick- stomping on the fuzz pedals and paying tribute to one of their heroes Davie Allan... with "Scram! It's the Fuzz". COUNTRY & WESTERN: Ronnie Costley is a singer/songwriter from Scotland who lives in West Cork, Ireland and his band is called The Starlight Wranglers. Ronnie's influences for the album are George Jones, Johnny Cash and Sun records. The album was an attempt to get back to the roots of country music as it was in the sixties and to roughen up the style a bit. It is produced by Kaiser George of The Kaisers, and his influences and style are evident on a lot of the tracks.

ROCK: The Hi-Risers celebrate their 10th anniversary with their new release Once We Get Started. Their sixth record, The Hi-Risers continue to present the traditional rock & roll they're known for. Songwriter Greg Townson wrote 14 songs for the record, writing with his favorite collaborators Todd Bradley, Nick Crews, John DeAngelis and Allyson Bice. The cd kicks off with Townson's Foundation Rock, a song rock & roll legend Hank Ballard covered, calling it "Pure rock & roll. Watch that song, man!" Coming on the heals of their collaboration with Kaiser George, Transatlantic Dynamite, Once We Get Started offers up everything listeners have come to expect from The Hi-Risers, plus some.

COUNTRY & WESTERN: With Diesel Made for Two, singer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Sprague comes into his own as a master of Truck Driving Music. Chris Sprague has been a working musician for many years, as one half of the Sprague Brothers, as drummer for Deke Dickerson and the Ecco-Fonics, and with his own band, the 18 Wheelers. Truck Driving Music fuses the 1960's era Bakersfield drive and twang of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard with the concerns of the working man. Musicians include: Frank Sprague lead guitar and sang harmony, Deke Dickerson and "Crazy" Joe Trischler on guitar, Mitch Polzak on banjo, Carl Sonny Leland on piano, and the amazing Dave Berzansky on steel guitar. ROCK: Picture the scene - it's a crowded roadhouse bar in Abilene, Albuquerque or Albany. In the middle of the dance floor Wanda Jackson is jiving with Joe Strummer, on stage Brenda Lee is belting out a tune backed by Link Wray and Johnny Ramone, and in the audience cavemen, cowboys and punks are pegging to the beat. ROCK: "If you learned all about love at the movies, you're in for a rough ride. The Fuzzrites explore love mostly in a state of chaos with an occasional glimmer of hope sneaking into the mix. Dick Chiclet's guitars fire torpedoes straight into the heart of love, exploding right in its face with fuzzed out, sonic barbs that hit the mark every time. The songs themselves wander the path between edgy pop rock arrangements and balls out garage rock. Dick's vocals have a sweet timbre but beware the teeth. Matt Mason, sharing vocals, injects urgency into the songs. The Fuzzrites found love and chopped it to pieces. Here, take a bite. Oh yeah, play loud!" - Bruce Madden, Entertainment Czar

ROCK: Recorded at the incredibly analog Goon Lagoon Recorders, this debut album by The Boss Mustangs is proof positive that rock is not dead! Sounding like a throwback soundtrack to a 1968 Motor City Dragway short film, there's no mistaking the band's understanding of stripped down, raw, power garage rock. All five lads hail from various enclaves of the world's motor capital, and recorded these cuts this past February. The record has an unrelenting drive and pace, following a pattern of high energy and dynamics coupled with tempo, timbre, and tone variations that keep the record coherent and consistent while being deliciously different from cut to cut. The album closes with White Rose, the most authentic psychedelic song put to tape in 45 years. Drenchy reverb, Leslied vocals, organ, et. al. There's nary a soul that's heard this track and thought it was recorded any later than November of 1967! In fact, all ten of the songs on this record nail the sounds of the heavier pre and post psychedelic era Detroit and London so well, it could fool most program directors at any rock station!

ROCK: Is there anything better in this world than a kick-ass rock and roll band? Take a touch of punk, a taste of rockabilly, and a whole mess of melody - then fire this combination up with a jolt of high-octane energy - and you've got The 99ers, crashing stages across the Midwest with their own brand of tuneful pop-punk. If Eddie Cochran had joined the Clash, or the Collins Kids had fronted Green Day, then they might have recorded something like Move It!, the fourth CD from the band. With 20 tracks of punkish rockabilly, covers of Brenda Lee, Eddie Cochran and Chris Montez, and the stunning vocals of Erik John, the band roars like an 18-wheeler down a rock and roll highway. So set your phasers to stun, turn the volume knob up to 11, and feel the power of The 99ers rattling your windows, shaking your floors, and sending your pleasure centers into total, aural overdrive. When melody and power ignite in a roar of catchy, exhilarating rock and roll then there's nothing you can do except . Move It!

ROCK: The B-Sides were born after pals Pete Curry, Tommy Schichtel, Christopher Schichtel and David Stanton spent numerous late nights spinning B-sides (as they are often called) of some of their favorite 45s. These songs usually sounded odder and often darker than the A-sides. The listening parties would stir up old memories for Tommy when as a child, his enthusiasm with the hit single would wane leading him to flip the record over. Finding the likes of "You know My Name (Look Up The Number)" by The Beatles and "Gotta Get Up" by Nilsson led to a whole new world of discovery. The fact that the B-Sides are a concoction of Los Straitjackets, The Concussions and The Fuzzrites, you can hear their surf and garage influences in the ear candy tones and the hooks galore. Upon playing the standouts "Restless Heart", "Let Her Go", "Everyday", "Radio On" and "Listen To Me", hints of The Zombies, Badfinger, The Hollies, Small Faces and The Troggs all come to mind, but with a modern flair. Recorded at both The Powow Fun Room (Pete's studio) in Los Angeles, CA and at Goon Lagoon (Tommy's studio) in Grand Rapids, MI, the sound is unbelievably gooey and vintage warm!

ROCK: The Outta Sites are back on the scene with another spin for your record machine! The success of their first platter has paid off, making them in demand on the bandstand! Only a group that has gigged endlessly can exude such versatility and energy, which is heard in this new stomping release. They've come up with a sound stylistically reminiscent of The British Invasion. What they're putting down isn't some sort of nostalgia trip. This is what real Rock and Roll sounded like before hippies and squares messed everything up. The twelve tracks heard here could easily all be smash hits. Highlights include such great uptempo originals like; "It'll Be The Last Time," "Let Yourself Go," and "My Baby's Going Away." The pace is slowed down briefly on a few equally great and moody numbers; "Don't You Know," "Please Don't Cry," and "Never Have I Seen." The Outta Sites have also put their own unique brand on cool covers including James Brown's "Good Good Lovin'," The Marathon's "Peanut Butter," Willie Mitchell's "That Driving Beat" and Brian Diamond And The Cutters classic "Shake, Shout & Go." Plus the tune "Bird Doggin'," which was originally waxed by Gene Vincent. The album concludes with the amazing instrumental and organ workout, "The Mongoose." Listen to The Outta Sites latest creation and you will agree that it's just outta this world!

ROCK: If you have been following this amazing, high-energy band since the birth of their existence 3 years ago and have dug their prior two releases ("Shake All Night" and "Rock And Roll Dance Party") you will surely not be disappointed. Plenty of Rockin' Toe Tappers, Groovy Beats, and Heart-melting melodies that you just can't get out of your head. Memorable tunes such as "Say It One More Time", primal foot stompers like "Arula Mata Gali," to wild acrobatic solos on tracks such as "Believe Me" and "She Doesn't Care" demonstrate not only their high caliber musicianship but also reveal them to be craftsmen of the first order. COUNTRY & WESTERN: Veteran West Michigan musicians, longtime pals and former band mates Jack Leaver (aka Diff) and Mitch Wood (aka Dudley) share a simmering passion for vintage country music, what the duo calls "the good stuff." Known regionally for their stint playing and recording in the late '80s and early '90s with alt-country outfit The Dushanes, and Wood's subsequent tenure with Dutch Henry, the duo had long desired to make a hardcore country album, complete with rollicking humor, drinking songs, and the pathos that can occur with everyday life. With the release of its debut album "Here's Diff & Dudley featuring The Big Sirs," the duo accomplished just that, with a 12-track outing, that reverently recalls country music of the '50s, '60s and '70s. Sharing vocal duties, Diff and Dudley wrote the bulk of the songs together, with three of them co-written with Robert Reynolds, a founding member of the Grammy winning group The Mavericks. Produced and recorded by Tommy Schichtel (Concussions, B-Sides, Fuzzrites) at his all-analog Goon Lagoon Studios in Grand Rapids, "Here's Diff & Dudley" captures the rawness and organic spontaneity of early country recordings, evidenced in the Jones-abilly romp 'Don't Wake Daddy," and the plaintive, Haggard-esque 'Travelin' Kind.' The Big Sirs -- comprised of some of the best country musicians in the Big Mitten -- provide spirited and authentic backing to the tracks, including plenty of pedal steel guitar, honky tonk piano and Tex Mex style accordian.

ROCK: It's been 3 years since we had a shot of the 99ers Molotov cocktail of punk, pop, garage & good old rock & roll (not forgetting a touch of surf). Imagine if Joe Strummer, Johnny Ramone & Brian Wilson had formed a pop punk power trio and then drafted a French chanteuse to add some Gallic vocal flair. The result is the 99ers fab new album - 'Pop Punk Girl'. Ever heard the phrase 'all killer, no filler'? That's what we have here dudes & dudettes! We've got advice on what you need to get through marriage ('Donuts & Morphine'), odes to the beach and surfing ('Calhoun Beach', 'Born to Surf'), and songs about our favorite bands (Y-Ye Pow, 'Rude Girl T-Shirt', 'She Don't Like the Lillingtons'). Our new singer/guitarist, Emily, gets her own introduction ('Quebecoise Punk Rock Star') and we pay tribute to amped up skating at the roller derby ('Roller Grrls') and on the street ('Skating NYC'). And along with a study in self-obsession ('It's All About Me') we have covers of two classic artists; The Shangri-La's ('Heaven Only Knows') and Dallas Pop Punker Darlington ('Pajama Party'). So get ready for power, melody and fun as the band rips through 13 songs with raw pop punk drive. If this album could be channeled into the grid we'd be an energy independent nation.
