JAZZ: Roger Glenn was one of the regular session crew for the Mizell brothers as they cut a swathe through early 70s jazz-funk with their production work for Donald Byrd, Bobbi Humphrey and Johnny Hammond . Glenn, a talented vibes player and flautist, appeared on some of the biggest jazz records of the decade, such as Donald Byrd's "Blackbyrd" and Johnny Hammond's "Gears". 1976 release Reachin' is the least well known of Mizell's sought after productions. It is a more latin influenced LP than many of their other recordings.

BLUES: Eddie C. Campbell brings his unmistakably individual, engaging and memorable verve and variety and his command of the Chicago blues tradition to "Tear This World Up", his most fully realized chapter in a highly regarded discography which has generated covers by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lee Atwater and a Christmas staple. Eddie has long been a master of classic Chicago blues, but always his own man, turning out venues worldwide with funk and rock & roll as well as blues, all with his rich, wide-ranging vocals, the trademark reverb drenched sound of his vintage metallic purple Fender Jazzmaster guitar and creative song writing.

BLUES: Spider Eating Preacher is the new album by Chicago blues legend Eddie C. Campbell and it's a family affair. Eddie & Barbara's musical partnership is in full blossom as Barbara plays bass on 6 songs. Barbara learned the authentic Chicago blues bass "bump" from Eddie! Spider Eating Preacher features 12 new compositions, including the title track, a song about Barbara's blindness. Their son, David, plays violin on two songs. This is the first time Eddie has played with his godson, Lurrie Bell, since the title track on Eddie's classic 1977 album King of the Jungle. This album is the follow-up to Tear This World Up (DMK 799), a finalist for Album of the Year in the 2010 Blues Music Awards.

BLUES: One of the greatest living Chicago blues guitarists, Lurrie Bell's last two CDs have been about stretching him (successfully) to showcase the breadth as well as the magnitude of his art. However for this project he just wanted to get back to the solid foundation of Chicago-styled traditional guitar blues, done with his rare blend of reverence, involvement and individuality and framed largely by his working band. Lurrie Bell, vocals, guitar: Roosevelt Purifoy, piano, organ; Melvin Smith, bass, Willie "The Touch" Hayes, drums; and on six songs Matthew Skoller, harmonica. Produced by Dick Shurman.

BLUES: Lurrie Bell returns with a new CD he's telling people is his best. It showcases all the passion, depth, rawness and uniqueness that keeps Lurrie at the top of many Real Deal Chicago Blues lists. His ace working band and frequent collaborator Matthew Skoller (on harp) provide the drive and the safety net while Lurrie walks the tightrope vocally and instrumentally. Motivated by his 2013 Blues Music Award for "Song Of The Year" for the title track from Blues In My Soul (Delmark 830), Lurrie had a hand in writing five of the thirteen tracks. "Driftin'", "One Eyed Woman", "Hold Me Tight", "Sinner's Prayer", "Do You Hear", "Born With The Blues", "Hidden Charms" and more.

COUNTRY & WESTERN: There hasn't been a comprehensive collection of country genius Roger Miller's very first recordings. In fact, no one was even sure who he'd recorded for and when - until Bear Family began researching! Bear Family provides a complete picture of the early years of Miller's career, from his 1957 first recordings for Starday, through his two Decca singles in 1959, to his 'sound-alike' recordings he did for Starday in 1960, this is essential listening for fans of real honky-tonk country music. Miller was a country songwriter of the highest caliber, and these sides may reveal a side of him that you didn't know before. Songs like "A Man Like Me" and "The Wrong Kind Of Girl" are some of the best country music to come out of Nashville in the 1950s.

JAZZ: This CD features one of the finest small jazz ensembles of the fifties, performing live in concert at the Rendezvous Ballroom in Los Angeles, California, on the 28th of September 1952. Graced by the vocal talents of June Christy who did so much to push The Stan Kenton Orchestra into the limelight. As for the musicians what more can be said than that nearly all of them would ultimately lead their own bands and achieve a place in the Jazz hall of fame.
