SOUNDTRACK : Here's an expanded version of the soundtrack for this classic cult film, making its worldwide CD debut 17 years after its vinyl equivalent. Critics remain divided about the the movie -- which starred a young, pre-Kurt Cobain, pre-Hole Courtney Love! It features otherwise unavailable performances by the late Joe Strummer, Elvis Costello, Pray For Rain and the original lineup of the Pogues with Shane MacGowan (all had acting roles in the film). It features almost twice as much music as the original vinyl album, none of which has been available anywhere prior to its release here! Film buffs may recall that this revered movie also featured Kathy Burke, Dennis Hopper, Grace Jones, Jim Jarmusch and Edward Tudor Pole.

SOUNDTRACK : In 2006, BGP launches its new outlet - the "BGP Sound Library," which will be the home for a whole slew of funky themes and other inspired 'library style' recordings from Ace's vaults. The first 16 track release is a very rare Maxwell Davis recording from 1966 which was released for a very short period on the U.K. Ember label (as well as on a U.S. Crown LP) in the wake of the Batman craze of 1966, when the famous pop art TV series was at the peak of its popularity. Our release gathers the ten tracks from that album - all in a style that suggests groovy go-go dancers going wild at an all-night happening in the Batcave - plus three related recordings by Maxwell Davis from the period. Davis was one of the true greats of the post-war R&B era.

SOUNDTRACK : This is a hip and groovy jazz take on the world of James Bond from 1965 - the height of the original Bond mania. This rare album is seeing its first ever reissue and is taken from the original mastertapes. The original album used legendary jazz and session bassist Jimmy Bond and contracted his name to James. Bond was a mainstay of the LA scene, playing with jazzers such as Charlie Parker and Elmo Hope, and with Phil Spector, Randy Newman and Frank Zappa (on his Lumpy Gravy project) amongst others. The group on this CD includes some of the finest jazz talent on the West Coast, including a brilliant horn and reed line-up of Harold Land on tenor, Buddy Collette on flute and tenor and Bobby Bryant on trumpet.

SOUNDTRACK : One of the rarest and most obscure of the soundtracks for black movies from the 70s, the 1972 release "Black Girl", is also a very interesting proposition musically, with its producers Ed Bogas and Ray Shanklin writing the music and then drafting in various artists who were signed to Fantasy. "The main theme has the brilliant Betty Everett singing her heart out, there are rare contributions from Rodger Collins and Walter Hawkins, while J.J. Malone's "No World For Dreamers" is a great two step soul number. The remainder of the album is made up of instrumentals including "Choc Lite Puddin" with some great Merl Saunders organ playing and the funky "BJ's Step".

The recordings were made this year using Morricone's own musicians and singers and are entirely faithful to the original score. Instead of using digital recording methods valve amplifiers and the old desks were used to perfectly reproduce the atmosphere of the original soundtracks.
