The concept of this CD is simple: take a well-known singer-songwriter, strip him of his usual touring band, compose eclectic jazz-roots-influenced string arrangements mottled with Middle Eastern tabla that expands into other-worldly territory, and then perform those songs live for a one-time-only special concert event held inside the beautiful stained glass acoustic sanctuary of historic St. David's Church in downtown Austin, TX. "Collaborations" is a charity compilation CD benefitting CASA: Court-Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children featuring incredible performances by Shawn Colvin, Eliza Gilkyson, Jimmy LaFave, Slaid Cleaves, Ruthie Foster, Patrice Pike, Guy Forsyth, Libby Kirkpatrick and Sara Hickman.

Hands On'Semble is a contemporary percussion quartet devoted to the art of hand drumming co-founded by renowned percussionist John Bergamo (with Randy Gloss, Andrew Grueschow, and Austin Wrinkle) in the fall of 1997. Since the group's inception, they have developed a repertoire of original compositions, blending the rhythmic concepts and playing techniques of North and South India, the Middle East, West Africa, Indonesia, South America, and Western Chamber Music. This is the fourth CD from internationally acclaimed world percussion group Hands On'Semble. For this recording, Hands On'Semble is joined by an all-star cast of international percussion artists: Swapan Chaudhuri, Abbos Kosimov, Adam Rudolph, Houman Pourmehdi, and Brad Dutz. Together they work through a kaleidescope of rhythms, forms, and soundscapes exploring the multitude of commonalties bridging cultural and musical differences, creating an entirely new work for percussion consisting of both highly fixed compositions as well as open structures for extended improvisations by some of the finest improvising percussionists in the world.
