This is a live concert recording of Dizzy and Bird from Town Hall not previously known to have been recorded. With audio restoration by Ted Kendell, the sound is excellent. This is a discovered recording of Dizzy and Bird at bebop's inception - the equivalent of finding the Buddy Bolden cylinder. Also features Don Byas, Al Haig, Curley Russell and Max Roach. This 7 track CD includes the songs "Intro," "Bebop," "A Night In Tunisia," "Groovin' High," "Salt Peanuts," "Hot House" and "52nd Street Theme."

Former George Shearing vibist Charlie Shoemake teams up with pianist Terry Trotter (Lena Horne, Natalie Cole, Joe Pass, Chet Baker) and various bass-drums combinations that include Darek Oles, Joe LaBarbera, Luther Hughes, Paul Krebich, Tom Warrington, and Steve Schaeffer. In addition to being virtually lifelong friends, Shoemake and Trotter share an affinity for the jazz of the 1940's, 50's and early 60's; jazz grounded in the harmonic and rhythmic traditions that shaped the post-bop, modern jazz era. It has been nearly twenty-five years since these two kindred spirits collaborated on a recording project, but it becomes immediately obvious that time has only enhanced their artistry.

The Paramount Four is probably the biggest crossover record of the last ten years. Only available on a 100 Club Anniversary limited press complementary single last September, it has been hunted by collectors across the rare soul world ever since. Sublime soul. The B side feature's James Carpenter's rendition of Dave Hamilton's 'Marriage Is Only A State Of Mind', which has yet to earn its full kudos. It was an unreleased master tape issued on the first "Detroit Dancers" CD of primarily 60s movers and has been largely missed by the Modern Soul crowd. Limited press of 1000 copies.

J.T. Rhythm's CD version of 'My Sweet Baby' is substantially different from the one issued on Palmer and fetching 4 figure prices. Slightly faster, better produced and in vastly improved aural quality, you'd need this even if you were a proud possessor of the original. The flip of that great 45 was J T's version of 'All I Want Is You' and here for the first time on vinyl is O C Tolbert's reading of the great song that even J T owners would consider to be the ultimate version. Limited press of 1000 copies.
