During her 25 years as a professional blues singer, Big Time Sarah has built a solid reputation worldwide with regular tours in the U.S. and abroad. She started sitting in during the late 1960s with Louis & Dave Myers, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, and Magic Slim. This album features five new songs Sarah collaborated on with songwriter William Bolden & arranger/guitarist Rico McFarland. Although more than capable of wringing the last drop of soul out of a slow burner, most of Sarah's music is about having a big, good time, and she delivers it with gusto.

JAZZ:
The Moscow saxophonist Alexey Kruglov is the brightest star on the new music scene in Russia and Leo Records' major discovery. He is a true inheritor of the aesthetics of The Ganelin Trio (he plays separately with all members of the trio). The bigger part of this CD was recorded live at the club JFC in St. Petersburg, with Alexey being accompanied by his regular partners - drummer Oleg Udanov of the Jazz Group Arkhangelsk fame and pianist Dmitry Bratukhin. Alexey plays alto sax, soprano sax, bassethorn, bariton sax and flute.

The follow up to the favourably received "Seal of Time" (LEO 566) released by Leo Records six months earlier. The difference, however, is that all five compositions on this CD were recorded by a trio: Oleg Udanov - drums and percussion, Igor Ivanushkin - bass. Alexey Kruglov plays huge array of istruments - soprano, alto, tenor & bariton saxes, clarinet, bassett-horn, flutes, bassoon, oboe, piano and some more. All five pieces by Alexey are meticulously structured. He is a major talent who continues to develop the tradition started by the Ganelin trio.

The Russian whizz-kid Alexey Kruglov (proclaimed to be a genius by the Jazzwise magazine, March issue, page 42) unite forces with the best Estonian Trio of Jaak Soo„„r - electric guitar, live electronics, Mihkel Malgand - bass, Tanel Ruben - drums to record five compositions full of dynamism and tremendous stylistic variety. The recording was done after their successful tour of Estonia in 2010. Alexey plays alto and soprano saxophones, basset-horn and recorder and sometimes two instruments at a time.

This is the fourth CD by this incredible young talent from Russia Alexey Kruglov who plays not only saxophones but piano as well, sometimes all of them at the same time. His seminal work "Identification" is one long piece of music recorded by his "Krugly Band" with Dmitry Denisov on bass and Vladimir Borisov on drums. For this recording Kruglov uses the principle of monogram borrowed from academic music in which words or letters are translated into sounds. It is important for Kruyglov that the music, with all its emotional upheavals, turns into drama or becomes history.

(2-LP set) Most of Sarah Vaughan's Columbia recordings were on the commercial side, but not the memorable selections on this wonderful vinyl reissue. She recorded eight selections in 1950 with an octet that included trumpeter Miles Davis, trombonist Benny Green, the remarkably cool clarinetist Tony Scott and tenor man Budd Johnson. This double LP adds alternate takes to seven of the numbers, none on the original single LP release. 180 gram vinyl.

Despite a long history of pop and musical-theater success in England, Sarah Brightman was not well known in the U.S. until her 1997 album "Time to Say Goodbye" became a hit topping the Billboard classical crossover chart in 1998. Really Useful Records, Andrew Lloyd Webber's label, took advantage of her sudden popularity to release this compilation of recordings of Lloyd Webber songs she'd made between 1985 and 1995. Many of his most popular songs are included in this recording. This recording has been mastered by the K2 HD format of 24-bit/100kHz, which creates an unbelievable sound surpassing other formats. This K2 HD CD will play on all CD players.

SOUL:
Sarah Webster Fabio was a poet, scholar, activist and a leading figure in the world of African-American Studies. Born in Nashville, TN she taught at Merritt College in Oakland, CA at the same time that Black Panthers Bobby Seale and Huey Newton were students there, and she helped to start the UC Berkeley African-American Studies department. In 1976 she released this album of poetry backed by one of the funkiest bands on the West Coast, which included a number of her children. This is an absolutely stunning record of spoken word and funk, back in print on LP so you don't have to spend upwards of $2,000 on eBay. Lovingly reissued in a perfect replica of the original Folkways jacket and including a reproduction of the original information booklet.

(2-CD set) Sarah Pillow introduced her new concept of giving modern arrangements to early Baroque melodies and texts with the release of "Nuove Musiche" (BUC*7). Here, she further pushes boundaries to give a "before and after" taste to a 400-year time span within two CDs. She gives two distinct, masterful interpretations to these songs, first in the style of Early Baroque and then as a jazz-rock vocalist. The first CD, produced by Ronn McFarlane and Mary Anne Ballard of the Baltimore Consort, is a collection of songs performed as historically informed renditions from the Early Baroque period. The second CD, produced by Tunnels' Marc Wagnon, features the same songs, in the same sequence, but with modern arrangements.
