Claudine's Top 5 record 'Party Lights' was a great example of the early Philadelphia sound. Her recording of 'The Strength To Be Strong' is regarded as a deep soul classic. The 24 song CD contains many tracks unavailable elsewhere, including a great previously unissued version of 'Buttered Popcorn', the Supremes song. Claudine recorded for six labels, all of which are included. She also recorded under a couple of pseudonyms and those tracks are included too. Tracks include: The Telephone Game, Good bye Mama, Hang It Up, Ask The Girl Who Knows, Standing On Tip Toe.

(DVD-AUDIO) A Blue Note catalog mainstay from its debut in 1958, this was another early 12" originally released as "mono only." Now, transferred from the first-generation 2-track stereo masters, the quintet sound is wide-open and spacious. The phrase "all star" does not begin to describe this recording collective. Complementing Clark's piano are Art Farmer on trumpet. Jackie McLean handling alto, and a rhythm section consisting of Paul Chambers on bass and Phily Joe Jones behind the drums. DVD-AUDIO disc that will play in 24/96kHz on a standard DVD video player (no footage included).

Drummer Mike Clark, the funkmaster, now shows us that he is a jazzmaster. The bicoastal musician, known primarily for his phenomenal drumming on the landmark "Headhunters" album by Herbie Hancock, has chosen top players from both Los Angeles and New York for this CD. They perform a variety of tunes, including two jazz classics by Wayne Shorter, originals by Jeff Pittson, Frank Perowsky and Ben Perowsky, a very unique treatment of George Gershwin's "Summertime," and much more. Produced by Rodney Crowell, fresh from success with hits from Rosanne Cash, Better Days features Clark's first hit single "Homegrown Tomatoes.” But beyond the hit, Clark establishes himself as a polished songwriter and storyteller as evidenced by the haunting story of his father "Randall Knife." Although recorded in Nashville, this album includes many of the LA new country session players that are featured on Clark's previous album. Joining Vince Gill, Emory Gordy, and Hank DeVito are Bob Wills fiddler Johnny Gimble and Nashville guitar ace Reggie Young.

COUNTRY & WESTERN:
Originally released in 1976, Guy Clark's sopohmore effort for RCA is another fine set of country tunes that run the gamut of emotions from goofy and playful to brutally heartbreaking, sometimes within the same song. Featuring a ridiculously talented set of players that includes Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Gimble, Chip Young, Jerry Jeff Walker and Rodney Crowell, Texas Cookin' is an Outlaw Country classic. While Willie and Waylon were turning the Outlaw into a marketing campaign, Guy Clark really was doing things differently than the Nashville/Vegas crowd, preferring whiskey and a picking session at his Nashville home to the endless drugs and groupies of the road.

No Other is an absolutely incredible record, and the album that Clark himself thought of as his masterpiece. Despite being a critical and commercial failure at the time of its release in 1974, the years have been kind to No Other and it is now thought of as a classic solo album from one of the founding members of the Byrds. Written in the quiet sobriety of his Mendocino family home, yet recorded in the cocaine excess of Hollywood, No Other is a perfect blending of those two poles. A stunning and important folk-rock record reissued on 180 gram vinyl, with a reproduction of the original poster and insert.

`Of the many eclectic influences informing the Toby Koenigsberg Trio - Jarrett, Mehldau, Evans, Clusone 3, Elliott Smith - none are more apparent than that provided by their own inner voices. Fresh and spirited with prodigious chops and a depth of musical enterprise, the trio visits the Bud Powell gems "Oblivian" and "So Sorry Please" along with several dynamic originals and a poignant reading of "My Foolish Heart." The trio, with drummer Jason Palmer and bassist Tyler Abbott, is based in Eugene, Oregon where Toby is assistant Professor of Jazz Piano at the University of Oregon. He received his Master of Music from Eastman and pursued graduate study at the Peabody Conservatory.
