SOUL: There has been a constant demand for Mel Williams' Modern 45 'Can It Be Me' since it was first spun at the Torch all-nighters in the early 70s. Its classic 60s stomping sound has made it a Northern perennial. The flip is the original instrumental of Mary Love's 'Lay This Burden Down' that was pressed by Modern in 1974 for shady UK dealer Simon Soussain. Instrumentals are back in vogue and this is one of the very best.

SOUL: The first-ever CD compilation of this R&B balladeer's classic singles for New York's Old Town label. Between 1959 and 1966 Arthur Prysock had two dozen singles and more than half a dozen albums issued on Old Town. These have been largely out of print since Verve Records bought Arthur's contract and his Old Town masters in 1966. Many have never been reissued at all, in any format.

The list of songwriters includes Neil Diamond, Tony Joe White, and Dan Peen & Spooner Oldham.

SOUL: Arthur Conley's career as a first-tier soul man was largely overshadowed by the worldwide success of his biggest hit, 'Sweet Soul Music' and the entertaining, but often cliched, funk and dance tracks that he was obliged to record in his attempts to find a follow-up hit of comparable magnitude. Hidden on the flips of many of those funk workouts and/or spread across three albums were some of the best deep and sweet Southern Soul sides of the late 60s. Although highly collectable they have never been available in once place - until now. 24 tracks including: Take Me (Just As I Am), Love Comes And Goes, Otis Sleep On, This Love Of Mine, Ain't Nobody's Fault But Mine, Keep On Talking.

BLUES: Little Arthur is a powerful blues singer & harmonica player who pounds away at you with his voice, reminiscent of the heavy, unpolished blues singers like Floyd Jones - at 65, he's part of the second generation of Chicago bluesmen, just behind Muddy, Wolf, Sonny Boy #2 & Elmore James

BLUES: Best known for "That's All Right" and two other songs covered by Elvis Presley, bluesman Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup was born in Forest, Mississippi. Crudup visited Chicago in 1939 as a member of the gospel group The Harmonizing Four and stayed to work as a solo artist but was not successful. He toured the country in 1948 with Sonny Boy Williamson II and Elmore James. This session was recorded November 10, 1969 and features Jimmy Dawkins and Willie "Big Eyes" Smith. Crudup's guitar was amped through the same rotating Leslie speaker that Buddy Guy used on Junior Wells' Hoodoo Man Blues (DMK 612) for seven of the nine songs here. There's also a talk section between Crudup and producer Bob Koester.

BLUES: Arthur has been a popular mainstay of the blues scene in L.A. for many years. His first album, "It's Private Tonight," released in 1972 firmly established the silky smooth vocal presence and guitar style that he's recognized for today. Arthur has recorded with Jimmy Smith, Nina Simone, Quincy Jones, Lowell Fulson, The Crusaders and Bonnie Raitt. In 1991, Arthur played rhythm guitar and contributed two songs to B.B. King's album "There Is Always One More Time." King later returned the favor appearing on Arthur's release "Back On Track" in 1999. "Stomp The Floor" features his signature brand of soulful rhythm & blues filled with melodic hooks, classy arrangements and impeccable song writing. Print ad campaign featuring full page color ads in publications including Living Blues, Big City Blues, Blues Revue and Southland Blues Magazine.
